A Chance to Walk by Faith

This year’s TC, and events leading up to TC, was the biggest trust exercise God has given me. It’s like when you do a trust fall with someone, but now you’re ten feet up, blindfolded, spun around a couple of times, and discombobulated. You barely make out a voice from the ground floor whispering, “Trust me.” Then BAM, you get shoved off the side of the building, every instinct in you screams, “Save yourself!” whilst every emotion sighs, “We’re doomed.” Still the whisper continues, “Trust me.” That was TC in a bottle.

We had our buildings taken away, we had our teams taken away, and up to a point, we thought our hope was taken away. Our hope to run Teens Conference. But in the midst of what felt like the valley of shadow of death (Ps 23), there we found our hope. Our hope was not in ourselves, our hope was not in AFC, our hope was not in Teens Conference. Our hope was not lost for our hope was in Christ, the founder and perfecter of our faith. (Heb 12:2)

So when you ask me to reflect on TC BEYOND/2020, I see it like every other opportunity in life, a chance to trust in our God, a chance to rely on Him as if there’s nothing else but Him, a chance to walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Cor 5:7)
