Join Us For Our 50th Anniversary Celebration! 🍂 Fall 2022 AFC Quarterly
Birthdays, anniversaries, and important holidays like Chinese New Year are times when we gather with loved ones and recall, often with a mix of joy and sorrow, the major moments of the last year. They are times when we set new intentions and make resolutions for how we want to change, grow, and develop over the next year.
Milestones are so important in our lives!
AFC in Canada is facing a historic milestone this year. As we celebrate our 50th birthday, there is much for us to remember, celebrate, and give thanks for. Our story is complex and ever-evolving. So much has changed in our world since 1972 but what has not changed is the legacy of faithfulness that has carried us through times of plenty and times of hardship. Throughout the changing seasons, it is the faithfulness of God and his people that has sustained us and brought us to where we are today.
Yesterday, I (Darren) had the opportunity to meet with the student leadership team of the Asian Christian Fellowship (ACF) at the University of Guelph. We spoke about many things: how to create a sense of belonging, how to help students grow closer to Jesus, and how to live on a mission together. We also spoke about the importance of cultivating spaces where students can come together, be shaped by the love of Jesus, and contribute to God’s mission of renewal on campus and beyond.
My time with these ACF student leaders reminded me of how important it is for us to nurture, encourage, and mentor the next generation of young leaders. Young people are the future. They are future teachers, doctors, lawyers, business leaders, and pastors. They will go on to shape our churches, communities, and nation. The question is: who and what will shape them?
That is why I am so thankful for faithful Kingdom partners like you. Because of the generosity of our incredible partners, the students, staff, and ministries of AFC in Canada can flourish in a post-pandemic world. Together, we have the opportunity to empower the next generation to own and live out their faith in our broken world. Milestones are a time to come together with those closest to you to celebrate and remember. In light of this, we invite you to join us in celebrating the long and storied history of AFC in Canada on October 29th, 2022.

We will share a meal together, hear from inspiring speakers, reunite with old friends, and envision what God will do in the next 50 years. There will also be an invitation to continue partnering with AFC in Canada through both prayer and finances as well. As we come together, we not only remember what God has done in the past but with hearts full of faith, we will look ahead to the future.
